Angkor Wat International Marathon, Bike Race and Rally

The 13th annual Angkor Wat International Marathon and Bike Race and Bike Rally charity event will be taking place on December 5, 6 and 7, 2008.

Last year’s event drew over 2,000 participants from 39 countries and raised thousands of dollars for various charities. This year’s events include men’s and women’s half marathon, 21k wheelchair race, men’s and women’s 10k run, women’s 5k event and a 3k family run. In addition there will be 80k and 30k bike races, a 30k cyclo race and a 30k fun ride.

This sounds like a wonderful and worthwhile happening.

Here’s a short weblog report from someone who participated in last year’s event. And I also came across this iReport video from another runner from last year. If you are planning to be in the area on these date you will definitely want to get in on the fun, at least as a spectator. Since there is an event for every level of athletic ability, you may even want to sign up for one of the events!
